STATE OF THE CLUB
I wanted to provide you an update on The Grove Throws Club, and what we are working on behind the scenes. I realize we have not recently been active as far as camps and practices go, however, we have some exciting news to share!
Following the summer season, I connected with the Norge Ski Club located in Fox River Grove, who has been a part of the community since 1905. They understand how smaller Olympic sports such as ski jumping and throwing are highly specialized sports with limited opportunities to participate in to support athletic development. The Norge Ski Club will be partnering with the The Grove Throws club by permitting the use of a plot of land on their property, as a throws field. This is an incredible opportunity for the club, and most importantly for the athletes who will benefit from it.
This spring, we will be breaking ground and will install concrete pads, throws rings, and a top of the line throws cage. The field will operate both as a training facility, and a place to hold competitions for youth and elite level athletes. This will allow The Grove Throws Club athletes to continue to train the shot put and discus as well as hammer and javelin! We hope you are as excited as we are about his opportunity as we are, and we can’t wait to break ground this spring.
We appreciate your continued support and passion for the sport.
Thank you,
Coach - Josh Freeman
